2018 McQuaig Global Talent Report

Earlier this year, the McQuaig Institute surveyed 500 business and HR professionals across the world. The survey collected their views on a wide range of topics crucial to talent acquisition and management.

From sourcing, to hiring, to training, development and beyond. McQuaig crunched the data to reveal the most useful metrics and best practices across sixteen key areas. The survey sorted organisations into three categories:

  • High performers, those who found it less difficult to fill a job than a year ago.
  • Moderate performers, those who saw no change in ease of hiring between 2017 and 2018.
  • Low performers, companies who had more difficulty filling a position now than a year ago.

It can be hard to know what ‘good’ looks like when it comes to talent acquisition and management. The best candidates are not only hard to find. They also need encouragement throughout their candidate experience, into onboarding and beyond. The 2018 McQuaig Global Talent Report looks at what high, moderate and low performers do and how they view their success.

The 2018 McQuaig Global Talent Report: Onboarding

Some of the most telling data is in the area of onboarding, a favourite subject of ours. The survey showed that high performers prioritise spending on new hire onboarding. 92 % of our high performing category reported that they successfully integrate the new hire into a team. This falls to 68% among our low performers. We also see that 80% of high performers deliver a standardised orientation for new hires.

The McQuaig Word Survey® Report is an excellent basis from which to begin new hire orientation. The report equips the line manager with the personality and behavioural information they need to effectively support the new hire through their opening weeks and months.

The 2018 McQuaig Global Talent Report: Recruitment Marketing

We were interested to discover how effective an organisation’s brand is effective at attracting talent (84% among high performers and 47% among low performers). It was also interesting how 91% of our high performing category felt that their organisation’s brand authentically represents their employee value proposition. It’s not just about talking the talk. Employers must also walk the walk when it comes to retaining their hard won talent.

These are just two of the sixteen talent acquisition and management areas that the 2018 McQuaig Global Talent Report covers. Download your copy to discover more great insights on high performing organisations.
